Tuesday Tidbits

                                                             Time for a haircut.  BEFORE
AFTER

Today, was just one of those kinds of days that you are so thankful are not everyday.  We had an appointment at the Tax center at 9:00 so we arrived early to find parking.  The lady told me they were short staffed so we ended up waiting 45 min. for our appointment.  I had the DVD player so Meg watched a little movie. After that we headed to the gym.  After 5 min. the DVD died because we used up all the battery at the Tax office.  Within 10 min. Meg was bored like crazy and was very ready to GO!  So we left there only after 20 min.  Then it was off to eat lunch with Owen at school.  He was very nervous today because he had to do a little presentation in front of his Spanish class using only Spanish.  He lit up when I said we would eat lunch with him at school.  We arrive at school to find out they had eaten early because of school pictures.  Ughhhhh  So after picking Owen up from school we headed outside to play on the playground.  We get all bundled up because it is still in the low 30s here.  I am excited because at least I can get in a walk while they play.  We get all the way to the playground in which Meg tells me her tummy hurts and she wants to go home.  hmmmmmmm

God must have known we needed a little something to lift our spirits today. So when Meg found this purse at the Thrift Store we were super excited! It so captured her little gypsy heart.
I also found a few other things for the kids. I love good deals.

It was just an OFF day.  But it made me think I am really glad God doesn't have "OFF" days.  So glad He doesn't get bored, tired, feel sick, or fail to show up.  I am also very thankful for the better days.  So heres hoping tomorrow is a better day!

Our Week!

Owen's school was having a used book sale you could get 5 books for $1.00!  Meg and I couldn't wait, we LOVE books and we came home with a few goodies!

We met up with P'tite Mom in France.  When we arrived it was snowing like crazy and we were covered in snow.  This smart mama had forgotten umbrellas.  It finally stopped but it hovered in the low 30's and was super cold!  We got some coffee, exchanged Christmas gifts and smiled and giggled alot because that is what P'tite Mom and I do when we don't understand each other!

This is one of my favorite indoor markets.
Our first Crepe of the year!  Owen was however disappointed because they didn't have banana and Nutella just Nutella so I ended up eating the first Crepe of the year!

P'tite Mom made Meg this hat and scarf...so sweet!
Christmas in March!!

It is always fun driving into Colmar and seeing the Statue of Liberty!  Frederic Bartholdi designed it and is from Colmar!

We loved seeing P'tite Mom! We look forward to the next time!

We headed out Saturday for the first road race of the season.  We left our apartment at a cool 28 degress, by the time the race started it was a toasty 34 degrees!  Here we are ready to go!

Owen is super fast, he always finishes way before me.
Meg all cozy and warm.

Tuesday Tidbits!

We woke up to more snow here in Germany.
When I was taking Owen to school this morning I was turning right at this intersection but our little car slid all the way down this hill into the straight lane.  It scared me to death and I was a nervous wreck driving the rest of the way.  We had a terrible time getting back up the hill.  Once I parked my car I wasn't about to go out again.
At 12:30 they cancelled school so Meg and I put on our boots to make the snow trek to Owen's school.  Thank goodness we only live 2 miles from school.
Off we go!
It has been coming down all day.

Lots of cars were having trouble!  The roads were terrible!
We are so hoping this will be the final snow storm of the season!

Our Week!

YAY!  That I signed Meg and I up for a card making class.  I didn't know what to expect but Meg absolutely loved it.  They gave you all the supplies you would need and then you would rotate around the room to different tables to work on certain cards.  Here she is Ms. Artsy herself!

Final products!

BOO!  That we ended up at the health clinic getting another x-ray of Owen's other arm because he had another tumble on the playground.  So thankful the doctor doesn't think it is fractured but we have to go back this week if the pain continues.  Here we are getting a cookie at Subway after our doctor visit  - anything to burn a little time of the school clock!
YAY!  To friends!  I stopped one day at a little farm down the road to let Meg see the horses and we just happen to run into her best friend Carly.  She was so thrilled.
Carly and her brother are two of the cutest red heads I have ever met!
BOO! that our building is under construction.  We are getting a new roof, work on the balconies and who knows what else.  Double boo that we are on the top floor while getting a new roof.
YAY! That we got an awesome package from Aunt Amy!!  The kids were beyond thrilled.
Thank you Amy!
BOO!  that we are suppose to get snow again on Wednesday.
We had some beautiful days this week -  we even got up into the 50's.

YAY!  That Owen and Meg are amazing fort builders.  They will work for hours making a fort and playing in it!

It's the little things

Fresh bread makes us happy.  One of my favorite things about Germany is that you can go in most any grocery store in the morning and buy a fresh loaf of bread for a little over a dollar!  Meg and I have the timing down perfect and can always bring home a loaf that is still warm.
Books make us happy! We are on the last book in the Shiloh trilogy.  The kids and I will be sad when we finish this series.  They are the best books about a boy and his dog.  Pascal surprised us and ordered the DVDs.  On Friday night we had a pizza and movie night!  I love how when I am reading Owen will cover his eyes when it is suspenseful, and how they hang on every word and ask me questions through out the day about the characters and plot.  I am so thankful for the gift of a great read aloud!
Owen's art makes me happy!  Owen is not an artsy kind of guy.  But when I dig through his book bag on Fridays I am always tickled to see what he makes.

Haircuts make us happy!  I showed Owen the before and after shots of his hair and we all had a good chuckle.  The cleaning up after a haircut does not make me happy but I love immediate results and I also love how Meg puts on her apron, gets out her little broom and dust pan and then totally works the comb on Owen's hair!
The Sun makes us Happy...giddy....overjoyed...elated....
Knowing Spring is almost here makes us happy!  So happy Meg and I spelled it with our produce.

Meg in her dance outfit makes me happy!
So thankful for all the things God puts in one day to make us happy!
