Week in Review

Our neighbor at the end of the road got a new puppy and Meg is in love.

                                                              neighborhood shenanigans

A couple of the neighborhood boys watching Owen play hockey
Meg ordered herself a hammock and just loves it.  We hung it outside our house in our front lawn from a tree until the neighborhood management sited us for "a safety violation." We were quite bummed about this but Meg just heads off into the woods now.
 Meg with her buddy

"Owen... hey Owen I wook weary  cool huh?"

A sweet mamma and her babies heading down the road.

"wait for us mamma, we're coming"

I spy Owen.  Can you find him??  You have to look really hard.

Meg took these pictures and sent them to me on my phone.  Boys and their adventures... it makes me nervous.  Good thing I wasn't there.  We had a nice chat about climbing trees and safety that night.

Owen walked in one day looking like this and I said, "Owen, what happened?"  and he simply replied, "What do you mean, I've been outside?"

This is a picture of Owen when we studied Ancient Egypt a few years ago.  He really went all out for a little unit celebration we had.  He was so into it.  You can see his pyramid he made in the background.  We worked so hard on this costume he wanted it to be "authentic."

JUST KIDDING....... This is not Owen!  We saw this picture in our curriculum and were truly impressed with this family's dedication to their studies.  I had the kids make a map of Ancient Egypt and that was the best I could do.

Working on week 3 of school over here!

Good bye Summer!

Meg and her weekly riding lesson.

Some roping lesson  - Meg absolutely loves to rope.  Who would have guessed it?

We like to head out on Saturdays for a family hike.   This place was called Garland Ranch.

 Water break

Tried making a new kind of cookie.  They were called "Backpack cookies."  Thought they were going to be amazing but they were okay.  Good but not great.

We headed out early to pick up doughnuts for Pascal's classmates to celebrate his birthday!
 the kids decorated
 Happy Birthday Pascal!
 evening bike rides
Miss Meg liked this book.  It totally scared me! Jonathan Auxier is an amazing story teller.  One of Meg's favorite authors.
Meg made twice stuffed potatoes for us.  We have never made them before.  They were a hit!
 Yay for Meg's tomato plants.
Here are a few shots of another Saturday hike.  This one was in Big Sur.

Back at the ranch for lessons!

 The boys vs. the girls

Owen hates to go thrifting with me but this particular day he went in with me and this is the kind of stuff he does while I am trying to shop.

"Mom, these shoes would look amazing on you."
We are trying to get back into the swing of things with school.  Week one in the books!  Here is the map of Egypt the kids made.

The fog... it rolls in and stays for hours sometimes days.
We are sad to see summer go.  Back to school and routine.
