Reber Round - Up

Owen wrapped up hockey season this week.  Before every game he would say, "Mom, pray for me."  I would alway say," I am!"   Its been a rough few months. He joined the team halfway through the season so he didn't know the other players.  His teammates weren't very friendly and the coach hardly ever spoke to Owen.  Anyway, I've been a hockey praying mamma every game/practice day.  Well, on the very last game Owen scored!! and because of his ONE goal they qualified for the playoff game.

Our latest project is our house that has been rented over the last several years.  It was in a bit of a sad and neglected state.  So we are rolling up our sleeves and are getting busy!!

Task one - Remove vine taking over house

Task two -  time to power wash
Here are a few shots before the renter left.. thank goodness he took all of his stuff!

I wish we had gotten a picture of the HUGE taxidermy wolf in the corner of this room

Owen and I removed all the carpet!!

Good bye old decking
Power washing does wonders

new and extended side steps coming!!
and then I saw this... after removing the front side steps and trimming the bushes this was hidden way back.  An old sandal that was Owens!!  I totally remember him wearing these sandals.  They were one of his favorite pairs.  This brought a smile to my face!!  7 years later and an old sandal reminded us with some hard work this house is going to make a comeback!!

First picture of it looking a little better.... stayed tuned for more before and after pics!!
Off to paint!!

Weekly Round - Up

This weekend Meg and I had a "Girls Weekend."  We dropped Owen off in the mountains to meet up with cousins.  On Saturday we headed off for a tail ride.  I knew Meg would love this.

Here we are at the stables at Seabrook Island.
 Meg ready to go

I rode Fancy and Meg rode Nick

 Meg loves all things horses
 and we are off!

We saw deer, an alligator and a turtle

and back to the stables...we so enjoyed this trail ride and Meg was in her element.  We spent the remainder of the weekend cleaning the house top to bottom and then headed to Target where Meg picked out some new pjs!
We drove back to the mountains to pick up Owen and hit snow!!

half way home we stopped to eat and I showed the kids the school I use to teach at.   I have a lot of fond memories here.  Meg and Owen like it when I tell them stories of different students I had and things that happened when I was a teacher.

I found this little prayer Meg wrote and it made me smile and cry a little too!

(Oh Lord all your "animals are magnificent" )
I too thank you Lord for being so loving!

Reber Round - Up

I saw they were having a color run on post so the kids and I joined in.  Owen and Meg opted to throw color and I ran.  I've decided this was the first and last color run for me.  I didn't like having powder thrown at me. It just wasn't my thing.  I guess I thought they would just throw color on you at the end but not at this race they had people along the side of the entire race.  No more color runs for me!

Owen did have a huge grin on his face when he saw me coming.  I think I may have gotten a little "pay back" for all the math facts sheets I make him do!

Anyway .... we made it home, and were all a complete mess, we had to tiptoe to the showers.
I found this cute note Meg made.  She made a list of things she could do with her friend when she came over.  The last one is :Who can make a good smelling potion (Can you tell we just finished book 7 of Harry Potter?)
Owen came running in and said, "FLOCK 101.... has landed"
The French Professor where Pascal works invited us to a Mardi Gras Party.  Here we are enjoying the festivities.
This picture might be a contender for a our annual Christmas Card.

Owen got the BABY!!  Look closely you can see the little hand near Owen's fingers.

For this weeks Take It Outside Tuesday
The kids and I rented bikes at John's Island.
The bikes were awesome and it was $4.00 for an hour which was just the right amount of time for us.
Owen at one point said, "this bike's seat really agrees with my bum."  Meaning they had wide comfy seats vs. the seats we have on our bikes at home.  Wide seats are the way to go!!
 and we are off.....
Join us on our venture around the Island

 We got in several miles!!
Meg is always cooking.  Here she is making us cookies. I saved cookie cutters from my Grammie and it makes me smile when I see them.

This is the a picture of the kids leaving on a field trip with the Homeschool Group on post.  Wish I had pictures but I didn't go.  ( I got to have 2.5 hours alone... this is a huge deal as a homeschool mom... that's right folks 2.5 hours in which I promptly headed to my favorite place... The Goodwill!)
This kids loved it .... it was a trip to a rope course.  Meg said she discovered she is afraid of heights.

I snapped this picture because 12 kids went and they were so so giddy with excietment to ride on this bus.  Thats homeschoolers for you.... a ride on a bus is a huge treat.  I think they could have just driven around post and the kids would have been happy.
 Owen at drumming lessons
Spring in full bloom here in Charleston!  What they don't get in snow they make up for in Pollen!!

a sunset coming out of the commissary

I love this sign at the track down the road from us.  I go there sometimes to run and I feel like that is where I am in life right now.  This has been a hard transition/move for us. The kids are having a tough time making friends, I'm having a hard time connecting and it's just been plain hard.  But in the midst of it I hear God saying, "keep running"  I really want to walk in fact I feel like crawling somedays because it's just tough.  But I will RUN.... it may be slow but I will run.
and that's a wrap!
