We pick up hockey sticks whenever we see them at the Goodwill.  Owen loans them out to all the neighborhood kids and they have big hockey matches!

Ice hockey ended up being a real success!  Owen really enjoyed it!  All the kids were super nice, his coaches were great and we were sad it ended.  Here is a group shot at their last practice.

 Time for a haircut!!                                    Before!

Never a Dull Moment

This week we were excited because one of Shakespeare's First Folios was on display at K-State.
We learned that if it weren't for this book 18 of his plays would have been lost.   There were about 750 printed and this is one of about 233 that remain.  One recently sold for 5.2 million dollars.
Super cool to see it.  It is making it's way around the US and will make a stop in each state.
Owen has shown interest in Shakespeare and so he thought this was super neat.

After the lady gave us a brief workshop on the folio we got to go to a craft room to design the stage part of The Globe. It was great! They had tons of art supplies and we could use anything we wanted.  Meg was super into this!

 Here is our finished project!

At soccer practice Meg has been into getting my phone and looking up kid's jokes.   She will sometimes laugh so hard she cries.  Here she is reading some.

Here was the conversation I overheard on the way home.

Meg  - "Owen I have a joke for you."
Owen - "ok"
Meg - "what do you call a bear without teeth?"
Owen - "I don't know, what?"
Meg - "A gummy bear!!!!"
Owen - Silent
Meg - "Owen did you hear me....a gummy bear!!!  ..... I don't understand how you are not laughing...... you didn't even get a crack out of that."

This whole conversation just made me laugh.  "A crack out of that"   - too funny

This was our art this week
check out the difference between how Meg and Owen labeled their stores.

I'm all about looking for activities.  I saw where the library was having a Valentine's party. So here we are.  It was great - free food and free card making supplies.  I said, "Owen make me a card." in which he replied, "No thanks, I'm really just in it for the food."
Classic 11 year old boy!!

So our big news of the week is: We had another bat episode  - For those tracking this is bat issue number four!!!!!
We were getting ready for bed when I heard horrible screaming.  The kind where you know something bad has happened.  Well, Owen was brushing his teeth and it brushed up against him in the bathroom!  The kids went into panic mode!  After I realized no one was hurt I too was a little unsettled knowing my phone was in the kitchen and the bat is flying up and down the hall!
I called maintenance and they came 30 min. later which was just enough time for the bat to find a place to hide!  Well, my kids and I were pretty worked up.  So they moved us to an un -used apartment up the road.

This is us coming back the next day.  I told the kids we cannot live in fear we are going to find this bat and get rid of it!  I told the kids I was heading up stairs.  Owen said he wanted to come with me  - he came back wearing this.
This is our house in bat mode  - total mess  - looking everywhere - every corner every closet - where are you little bat
We thought maybe it came through the chimney
Good news!! Bat located!!!  Maintenance called!!!  Bat removed!!

Because kids and momma are freaked out we have a huge slumber party in Owen's room because everyones nerves are on edge.
Bathroom where bat was found and episode began.  it is considered contaminated now.   I will be heading in here with some bleach!! Kids are scared to use it!
I heard Owen talking to Meg and he said, "Meg the bat won't even come in your room remember mom and dad used bat spray."
For those who don't remember we had bat issues a year ago.  Meg didn't sleep through the night for 6 months after this.  We tried everything and I mean everything.  and yes we lied to our kids and told them we had bat spray.  We went around Meg's room with this can of compressed air and told her it was "Bat spray."

Her first response was, "why don't they have a bat picture on the front of the can."
I said, "It has many uses."
Anyway, I guess in the end - Owen bought the story.

Poor guy he has been the one the most stressed out!! I think because it brushed past him.  Anyway, let us hope this is the end to our bat saga.
Owen got this amazing remote control tank that shoots air soft pellets.  He loves it!!
 Our neighbor with his
 Tank wars!

We headed to Cracker Barrel Saturday to calm our nervous.  Owen and I had a good laugh at this sausage in the shape of a football in the clearance bin.

We also stopped at our favorite shop.  We didn't find any goodies this time, but we are always checking!
and that's a wrap for a most interesting week!

Tune in again for a Reber Roundup - you never know what a week holds!!
