Week in Review

The fires in CA have been horrible this year.  We had three fires burning close to us.  We have been watching them carefully.  We are so thankful we did not have to evacuate.  Meg's ranch where she rides had to evacuate and the fire came up to their property. The fire fighters made a fire line and the last we heard their property was saved!  We haven't been able to go out there for weeks.  Meg is missing Astro.

I didn't take these top two photos they were sent to me.

The smoke was really really bad for a few days and we couldn't go out much.  It has been much better the last few days.  You could see the sun under a haze.
That is all smoke and a tiny bit of blue sky at the bottom

The fires are about 80% contained....answered prayers!
We received this waffle iron as a wedding gift.  Mrs. Jackie gave it to me.  she was our fourth grade assistant.  Thank you Mrs. Jackie!! We've put it to great use.
Meg makes twice baked potatoes which Owen has dubbed "exploding potatoes"  They are amazing!
The little cabinet we repainted - it found its place in Meg's room

A shout out to Little Caesars who has been a proud sponsor of HIS Academy for 6 years!!  Thank you Little Caesars for providing a quick and easy lunch that excites not only our students but staff as well!

Well, hello lovelies having a little sit down in the morning!
This little backyard has been a project Meg and I have been working on.
 I'm so proud of her!
 What we've been reading
Meg read the following and really enjoyed them
She is a big Johnny Cash fan!
She emailed Taya Kyle the sweetest message after reading her book.
We read The Midwife's Apprentice and it had such a great message.  The kids weren't crazy about this book but agreed it had a good message.
 This one we loved!
 Picking time!
We were in the grocery store and every item on this row was turned backwards!  Meg and I thought it was so weird.  I asked her if she thought it was a prank someone did.  We don't know but she made me giggle when she said, "It kinda represents 2020!"

Owen and neighborhood shenanigans!

 look at this kid!

Meg took this picture and I love it!  It just makes me smile!!

Week in Review

Tomatoes!!  BLT time!

These little red goodies bring me such joy.

Love seeing these guys in the morning when I am out running

One day we set out on the road with no destination in mind.
We just drove in hopes we would find a cute little town.  And look what we bumped into it.  We just took a random exit and ended up here.

Labeling notebooks, I've been doing this for years it works for us.  Cheap note books is the way to go!

Owen thinks he is quite the chef.  Here he is whipping up some "Banana Mousse."  This involves smashing a banana and adding cool whip.

Waffles - a go to breakfast item for a teenage boy!

Owen - "Mom, look at these.... don't those look tasty, can we get some?"
Me - "No they do not look tasty, and no we cannot buy those."

Meg has always wanted this little metal cabinet from Nana in her room.   She washed and painted it.
Stay tuned for after pictures.  Love having little reminders of Nana around.

We also made a spice cake.  We think of Nana every time we make one of these.  One of Pascal and Owen's favorites!

"Owen is that my exercise band on your head????"
