Weekly Round-Up

We have enjoyed some down days and not having school. We often head out and just explore.  Owen loves this and spends hours out here.  This is one of his favorite spots.

He got a metal detector from Mimi.   This picture was taken before Christmas and I kept thinking he is going to be so excited!!!
                                                      A beautiful sunset
Pictures from my run on Saturdays and Sundays

I see this guy all the time and he parks this little bit of awesomeness all along the coast.  I think it is the coolest!  Every time I run he is parked in a different spot.   The back door is always open....I love it!
Christmas bowls.  When we were in Germany our stuff never made it for Christmas so I used my grandmother's mixing bowls instead of stockings and ever since then the kids ask if they are getting a Christmas bowl.  Here is Owens.  Mostly food items!!

Meg had a horse themed Christmas

 Mimi sent me these!
We had a girl's weekend!!  The boys headed out of town to see a hockey game and our besties from NC flew out for the weekend!!  What a time we had and lots of memories were made.

This is my walking buddy.  We started walking 10 years ago and haven't stopped.  Even through all the moves we calculate the time change grab our earbuds cell phones and head out the door and walk and chat at the same time in different countries, states, and time zones.  We make it work and once in while the Lord blesses us with a walk in person!!

As to the boys weekend.  They ate seafood!!
 and loved the hockey game!

What a sweet Christmas.  It is always hard when we are not near family.  We were so thankful some sweet friends made the trip out and it made the season all the more special.  God takes such good care of us and we are so grateful!!  We know God has big things in store for us in 2019 we are excited to see where He leads.  It's always an adventure.

What We've Been Up To

I came home one afternoon and saw this.  The girls were planning a surprise party for one of their best buddies who was moving.  They pulled their own money and rode their bikes to the mini mart and bought balloons and goodies.  I told them I wanted to contribute so I picked up pizzas for the neighborhood crew.
 They decorated the garage
they set up a table and planned games all by themselves! One girl made homemade chocolate croissants and another mom heard about it and dropped off a veggie tray.  These kids are amazing.
balloon tied to your ankle game - is always a winner

We lit a candle each night during Hanukkah and talked to the kids about this special tradition.
Banana bread a staple in our house
So I found these socks and they made me happy so I bought them. (I won't mention the part that I got them from a thrift store - but the tags were still on them)

and then Owen discovered them

Meg getting some lasso lessons from her riding instructor.  Meg's face has total concentration written all over it.

This is an Icelandic horse and Meg's instructor braided her hair and trimmed a heart on her muzzle

Neighborhood buddies - we had to say goodbye to the guy on the end and it was a hard day on all of us.
roller hockey everyday - all day
shout out to Chipotle for hosting the HIS Academy Christmas party!  Classroom PARTAYS are the best!
We are so enjoying no school.  Someone cut in front of me while we were out shopping and Owen said "Mom that guy just cut in front of you!" and I said, "I don't even care because I'm not doing math right now with you guys!!!"  We stopped by a Western store and Meg was in heaven!

Owen channelling his inner cowboy

Owen wrapped up the roller hockey season as the second highest scorer!  The other night we noticed that the girls roller derby practice had been canceled.  Our family thinks the whole roller derby thing is a little weird. We do however like to think about what names we would have if we played roller derby.  I would be "In your face - Grace"
Meg said she would go with "Mighty Meg" or  "Make you cry Meg"

We saw this at Target today.  I'm not even sure what caption goes with this picture.  But what's even stranger is Owen immediately wanted to know if he could have it.
We were in the pet section grabbing a snack for Meg's riding instructor's dog  - Ollie.  Owen picked up this bag of Sizzlers and said they looked good.
Owen's face when he saw me come home with sour dough bread.
Meg and I baked one day.
We are trying to get together some goodies for Pascal's teachers. Whew this wore me out!!

and that's a wrap
