Her Own Style!

It was time to pick Owen up from school and Meg had been in her room getting "ready".  She found one of my scarfs, tied it in some amazing way around herself and said she was ready.  She LOVES accessories!

I had a vision of how I wanted this Happy Birthday video to turn out and this is certainly not it but I am hoping that it truly is the thought that counts.  Meg missed the point a bit but it's a memory none the less.

Watch out First Grade, Here comes Owen!

This in our big guy sportin' a new haircut for the first day of school.  He handled it like a champ. Patrick Henry Elementary is a very large school and it was very overwhelming with all the kids and parents but we prayed and then waved goodbye.
Owen's teacher is in the white shirt and holding the sign.  You can see Owen walk past holding hands with a new guy with an orange backpack....so sweet.

Roermond, Holland

We had our second visit to Holland and I just loved everything about it.  We stopped first at an Outlet Center.  We didn't buy anything but we loved looking.
Next, we walked into a little village and hit their Saturday open air market.  Outdoor markets are truly one of my favorite things in life.  I love the freshness of the fruits and vegetables. I love the smell of all the food that is available, and I love the friendliness and interaction of people seeing friends and neighbors.
They were also having a flea market. I was beside myself with giddiness!  One of my mottos in life is:  "Free, flea or find!"
Holland we'll be back.
When the sun is out we try to get as much laundry done as possible.

Pascal planned a trip to Belgium and Holland to visit some WWII sites.  The first stop was a massive memorial to the soldiers that fought in and around Bastogne.  My grandfather received his injuries during the Battle of the Bulge.
Bastogne, Belgium
A church in the town
Malmedy, Belgium.
This site is where close to 100 American soldiers were captured and killed by the Germans in December 1944.  To be in these places is very sobering and it makes war very real.  I think of my grandfather and the leg he lost in fighting for our freedom during World War II.

Glasgow

This past weekend we boarded this bus and headed to Amsterdam.  The bus plus 50 pipers, drummers and family members boarded the ferry.
Here is the ferry that we spent the night on.  It took us to Newcastle.  Once there we got off the ferry and back on the bus until we reached Glasgow.

Here is our room on the ferry the kids loved the "tiny" space and the fold down bunk beds.

Scooter Ride Sundays

The kids love to walk down to the Aldi's parking lot on Sundays and ride their scooters.
