What We've been up to!

Meg LOVES boots!  We picked up these boots at our local German grocery store!
I always post pictures of Meg but wanted to post some of Owen too!  He loves to dress up when he is playing outside with his friends.  He got this cowboy outfit when he was 5 from Aunt Nela and Uncle Jim and he LOVES to still wear it.  The size of the Chaps just makes me smile! It is starting to get cool here and the other day I said, "wear a jacket."  Later that day he had this on and I said, "Owen, where is that jacket I told you to put on?"  he said, "Mom, I have my cowboy vest on, its like a jacket."  hmmmmm I said.
He likes to change it up and wear his camos as well.  Cowboy or camos, it's one or the other.

I looked out the window yesterday and snapped this of Meg.
Meg attended her first doll social held at the library.  I thought this was a cute shot, it is of all the girls who had the doll named Saige.  They had an etiquette lesson, listened to a story, had cookies and tea, drew a picture and each girl got to have her doll's hair done.  I got recruited to help at the hair station.  There was one teenage girl there doing the hair and between her and myself we did the hair of 30 dolls!  Whew!

This is just a random shot but it really is a true snapshot of Ms. Meg's personality!

And that's a wrap!
We had no idea what we were in for when we signed Owen up for Flag football.  We have never really watched it, followed teams, or know much about the sport itself.  But we are always up for something new.  It has really been fun going to Owen's games and they are super exciting. The following is a little video I put together so you can hopefully feel the energy we get to experience on Fridays!

The Weekend!

Here are a few snapshots of Ms. Meg and her most creative outfits!

Owen had his first flag football game on Friday!

                                                         The cheerleaders were ready!
The Refs were ready!
Here is Owen getting ready to start a play!  He did a great job!

So thankful for sweet neighbors!  We like to call these girls sisters!  Meg loves having an "older" sister, they play together for hours!
FRIENDS!
Owen snapped this shot of me peeling off my clothes after finishing a road race on Saturday morning.  It was my last race here in Germany, and boy did I go out with a bang.  It started to rain at the start line and it was as if the start gun signaled the clouds to let loose.  It POURED the entire time.  It was the longest 10 miles of my life!  I improved my time only because I was so ready to get out of that mess! Talk about motivation to finish! My family was waiting for me when I got home they cheered for me from the balcony and had cleaned the apartment during the race as a surprise for me when I got home!

Off to a new week and excited to see what it holds.  Big changes are coming our way!

Meg and Owen love to play with the neighborhood kids. Here they are on a typical Saturday.

I was talking with one of the other moms and we love how they are so creative.   They all get their umbrellas and make forts.
Here is one of their finished forts.  They love using stuff people put out by the recycling bins, they are most resourceful!

On Friday and Saturday they played from morning until night and then they organized a light show.  Everyone brought out flashlights and anything that glowed.  They had a glorious time!  We are super sad because two of the girls moved yesterday.  Meg and Owen are very bummed.

We were out shopping this weekend and Meg was taken with the top below.  It just cracked Pascal and I up.  They had the same exact outfit in purple (Pascal and I liked it better).  We kept saying things like, "Oh, the purple is so pretty, and oooohhh the purple really looks good on you."  But her final assessment was, "No I'm sticking with this one, it is me." So the yellow, brown, pink and greenish combo it was!  I tried to tone it down a bit with some brown leggings but I have to say I just love how Meg knows what she wants and no matter what other people have to say she sticks with what SHE likes.
I think there may be some learning lessons in this for me!

Meg has been bringing home some of her art projects from school.  I just love art at this age.

I love getting hand prints!  This is a keeper!
I wasn't quite sure what this one was....I thought perhaps they are starting Halloween stuff early.  When I asked her, "who is this?"  She said, "Oh, that is a boy who is really bad."

Then the light bulb went off and I said, "Ohhhh I bet you read No, David!. "  and she said, "yea!"

Our Week!

Here is Meg's passport photo

And here she is on her first day of School

She is loving school and embracing all aspects of it.  Yesterday, she asked if she could buy her lunch and ride the bus.  She was up super early just waiting for us to get in the car and go.

Here she is very annoyed we were still taking her picture

Owen is doing great and I find 8 year old boys so amusing.  This week he said, "Mom, can I have a real breakfast like bacon and eggs in the morning."  Sure!  I said so here is a picture of what he has been eating this week for breakfast!

At the grocery store he wanted to know if he could get a Slim Jim.  This just cracked me up.  We have never bought these, and he had never tasted one but he said, "they looked really good."  So into the cart went the Slim Jim.  I think he is going to be my meat guy.  He lights up when I fix roast beef for dinner and I made tacos the other night and apparently it was the best meal I have EVER made!
He is number 43 for flag football. He got his jersey yesterday, he slept in it and wore it to school today!  Oh the life of an 8 year old boy!

Our Week!

Here is Owen at his first Flag Football Practice.  This is a new sport for us so we will have to see how it goes.

Pascal took this picture of Meg one night.  I love how she arranges her stuffed animals.

Here are a few shots of outfits Meg wore this week. She was into sporting the hat and scarf!

Welcome September! We are excited you are here for with you comes many changes, we look forward to all things new.
