What we do for Summer fun

We go to the carwash!  We take a bucket and soap and pull up to the hose on base and the kids get to have fun and I get a clean car!
We go to the German Recyling Center.  Here we are as we pull up....I'm full of excitment at this point.
We enter through th gardening section...look at all the beautiful flower pots.
Once inside the warehouse you enter what I like to refer to as, "The junk yard Barnes and Noble"  Love how they have a couch where you sit a spell and read a book.
Then we hit the toy section.  My motto is:  "Look hard guys there are treasures hiding."  Meg and Owen love to look through this stuff and once in awhile we come away with a real find!
VBS Preperation!  These are the crafts Meg and I came up with to do with our class.  We start VBS this week and we are excited to share God's word with his children.  I will be working with the 3 and under crowd.  I know it will be a fun (and exhausting) week!

German Picnic Table

Meg and I saw this little German style picnic table for kids at our local thrift store.  It had a paper on it saying it was not tagged yet but would be available the following business day.  These picnic tables are very popular in Germany, you can see them at all the festivals. But we had never seen one for kids.  I think they are so pracitcal because they fold flat and are so easy to store and haul around.  Well, when I saw this kid's table with a price of $12.00 I was super excited so Meg and I were waiting the next business day for the thrift store to open hoping we might still be able to get it.  And we did!!  I love a steal, bargain, deal, good fine and this rates high on my list of a real bargin!  Owen and Meg love having this on our patio.

The Hokey Pokey Take Two

This is Meg in her 2nd dance class again doing the Hokey Pokey except this time Mrs. Gabby let the class wear tap shoes.  Meg was over the moon! Meg has never worn tap shoes and Mrs. Gabby let her borrow a pair...she was very excited.

Meg First Dance Class

Here is Meg at her first dance lesson.  She is suppose to be lined up with the other students but for some reason she thought being up front was more fun.  I also love how the Hokey Pokey is universal!  By far one of Meg's most favorite songs!  She did very well considering it was her first time, and that it was in German!

A little scenery

Morgins, Switzerland

This weekend we met P'tite Mom in Morgins, Switzerland to hike.  I learned very quickly that when the "Swiss" hike they hike! On mile four all of which was up hill, I knew P'tite mom could out hike me on my best day!  I'm sad to say the kids and I pulled the plug somewhere around mile 6.   Pascal and his mom could have hiked hours more but I had to call it a day.  In the end we hiked eight miles. Owen did all 8 miles by himself!!  Way to go Buddy!! Meg on the other hand rode the entire time on Pascal's shoulders, so much so that her legs were chapped on the inside from riding!
A true hiker!
Below is some of the trail we hiked
P'tite Mom showed Owen and Meg how to make hats out of some plants.
Great hike on a beautiful day.  We all slept great that night!

More Scottish Games!

This weekend we went to the Angelbachtal Highland Games, just 20 min. down the road.  Pascal competed with the band and Owen competed in the Kinder games!  He did a great job!  Meg was fascinated with the dancing.
Tossing the Caber
This one was especially hard, he had to wear these big wooden shoes, while trying to balance this ball on a stick.
The Heildelberg Band took home 2nd!

Swim Time!

We were super duper excited to find this pool right in Leimen!  I don't know how we missed it but I was on the hunt for a pool and one night as we were just driving around, we took a road we had never been down and we found a sports center with this huge pool.  They have 3 pools, playgrounds, soccer field, vollyball and big grassy areas.  We were smitten!  I think we will be spending much time here!

Meg's Own Style!!

These are some recent outfits Meg put together.  She loves to dress herself and "get ready".
