Hair Cut!!

Meg has not had a haircut in over a year.  Her hair was really getting long and I was terrible at fixing it all cutsy sooooo after much thought I decided short hair might work better for us.  So here is the process:

Our Yard

A Package from Mimi and Pappy!

Dachau Concentration Camp

This was our first visit to a concentration camp and it was a very emtional journey.  There are no words to convey the feelings one feels as you walk where the prisoners walked and see first hand what happened.  Every prisoner walked through this gate and every concentration camp had these words written at the entrance:  Work will set you Free.

Two Days, Two Countries and a Trunk Full of Memories!

Our first stop was the Lorraine Cemetery in St. Avold, France.  This US cemetery contains the largest number of graves of our military dead from WWII.
Learning that Freedom comes at a cost.
Here Owen is standing in the remnants of a WWI trench.

General Patton's grave stone located in Luxembourg Cemetery.
The landscape is still marred from the shells. This battlefield was in Verdun.

A German Holiday

The Germans have been celebrating "Fasching" which is similar to Halloween and Mardi Gras in the states.  Owen made these mask at school and got to eat as many pancakes as his tummy could hold.

Time to spice it up!

Barbie Bell and pom poms! Could a girl ask for more?
Meg decided her bike needed to be "spiced" up a bit.  Sooo with some money her Aunt Amy sent her she finally got to buy the bell and pom poms she had been eyeing at the PX.  (Thank you Aunt Amy for making our day)  This post is for you!!  After I put them on she stepped back and said, "it looks fancy!"  And then she was off!  One very pleased girly, girl!

Treated myself!

I decided to treat myself and get my hair done.  I loved my hairstylist and in the end I was VERY happy with the result!

Weekend Fun!

There is just something about Starbucks and McDonalds here in Germany that we find comfort in!

 Trying a new dessert!

Visited a park in Mannheim that had botanical gardens, Chinese gardens, lakes, playgounds, aquarium, animals, and a butterfly pavillion!

On Sunday we walked the grounds of a Monastery.

Then we road a train to the top of the highest point in Heidelberg.

Going straight up!

Here we are at the top!

Later we walked downtown Heidelberg stopping for treats at Starbucks!
