Weekly Round-Up

Meg and I were at the library one afternoon perusing books when she found a note.
In a random book she pulled off the shelf the note was tucked inside and we had a good laugh!
We had a good time talking about all the "problems" Ashley was causing that resulted in the demise of this friendship.  We also liked that Steph had a little spelling boo-boo!   It just cracked us up!

Owen finished this book last week and Meg is finishing up the Serafina series.
WE finished To Kill a Mockingbird for school and Meg and I loved it.  Owen "liked" it.  It is a heavy book with lots to discuss.  Meg and I are enjoy the audio version of Harper Lee's second book Go Set a Watchman.
Last selfie with braces!! Owen got his braces off and we were all thrilled about that!
Meg and I decided to try these new items from Trader Joe's

Pascal got me these beautiful flowers!! So sweet.
Meg and I decided to try a little art project

Hello Fall we are glad you are here!

Weekly Round-Up

We spent a lot of time at the Stink Rink.... I mean Skate Rink last week.  Owen was in a tournament and it was a lot of fun to watch him play.  I took this picture on one of Owen's regular Thursday night practices as you can see it is a packed house.
Meg and I pass this couch each week and think that it would be the ultimate dare to make us sit on it.

Here are some of the neighborhoods boys who came to see Owen compete in the tournament.

This was the team Owen played on.  He usually plays on an adult team but for this weekend tournament he played on the 12-14 league.

He laced his skates with red so it would be easier for me to see him.

One night we left the rink and we saw that someone and driven into a fire hydrant.  It was a sight to see.  The car had a huge dent in it and we can't figure out how the person driving ran into it.   OOPS!

"Owen I wook just like you when I wear your hat and sun glasses."
All the boys in the neighborhood worked hours and days digging this hole.  It is really hard to tell from these pictures but when Owen would stand in it the hole was as deep as his chest.
They all thought it was super cool to dig around the root.  It reminded me of the book HOLES - one of Meg and Owen's favorite reads.

Meg loves to take pictures of items when we are thrifting and send them to Pascal joking with him  that we are getting them for him.  Here are two she took.

I really wanted to buy these costumes for me and Pascal

 some of the boys

Meg and I headed out to the Ranch Roundup

 This is Meg's instructor competing.
She did so awesome and was the only one who lassoed and got it!!
We walked around and admired all the horse items

We watched them do some "cutting" and they were super good.
This is Meg loving up and her favorite neighborhood dog.  She loves this guy, so I will pull the car over so she can have a few minutes with him. Meg is a dog person and has wanted a dog since she was little.

 More neighborhood hockey.
I saw this quote and it totally describes me.   I'm a homebody for sure!
and that's a wrap!

What We've Been Up To

Meg's tomato plants are going strong!

Sweet little hummers

We walk, talk and destress down by the ocean
Someone had built all these little rock structures.  How they get them to balance is super cool.

Meg got to work with Astro on the lunge line
Meg trail riding Triggy - an Icelandic horse
We read the the following two books over the summer. The one by Leslie Connor was okay.  We finished it but not a super memorable read.
The Outsiders was a hit.  Both Owen and Meg gave it five out of five stars.  This is a great middle school read.  It does have smoking, drinking and violence in it which were great topics to discuss.  But the overall themes are friendship, loyalty, and hope. Lots of great discussion with this book.  The kids followed it up by watching the movie. I was surprised by how much the kids liked this one!
Mad Libs always a hit in our homeschool days.  Amy send us this one and we are still loving it!
We are currently reading these two - and well lets just say we are determined to finish them but they are not favorites by anyone in our house.
our diffusers are going and we are currently loving this smell:
Off to Sequoia Natural Park.  Meg has been wanting to go here since we moved here.  It was amazing!

 so beautiful and peaceful

The almighty General Sherman   - The biggest tree in the US.

Meg always is out front leading the way.  She can out hike everyone except Pascal.

"Mom, can I take this trail marker home ....it would make an awesome souvenir."
We did hiked 10 miles and then drove 30 min. out of our way to make it to a Chick-fil-A!
I saw this guy out in the neighborhood rucking with his kids.  High fives to this guy!!

Flash back to this cutie who has always had her own style!

Hello September - what do you have in store for us?
