On Friday the kids had a teacher's workday so I took them to a local dairy farm.  I had heard about this farm when we moved here and I wanted to try their products.

Meg wanted to photo bomb one picture.

Then on Saturday it was time to head to The McPherson Scottish Games.

Owen is wearing my kilt, shirt, belt, socks, hat and shoes!  And Ms. Meg is wearing the sash I wore when I got married!
We got to ride on this cool little train
Meg was a little more excited about this train ride than Owen

Owen's eyes are funny in this picture but he was super excited to run into his teacher at the games!
Here is Pascal competing.  He competed in four events!
 Getting comments from the judge.

                                                                      Just like dad!

Pascal heading to the tent to pick up his scores.

Three first places, one second place and he was PIPER OF THE DAY!  Meg was so excited about this!

Our good friends Bryce and Sue came out later that afternoon and we had a great time hanging out with them.  Here is their little girl.  She is super cute and has four older brothers always keeping an eye on her!

                                                               Hanging out with Lucky!

and that's a wrap!

I included a little video of Owen dancing again!  He is a little slow at the beginning but he pulls out some pretty fancy moves right at the end!  So back by popular demand is .......

I love notes!
Today, when I was cleaning I found several of these little notes written by Meg. When I asked Meg about them she said, "Yes, mom, I like being Me!"

Owen has an agenda book where he writes down his homework daily.  I started writing a little note to him every morning before he heads off to school.  I thought it was sweet that his teacher wrote her own note on this one.
                                    Sometimes, he writes me back!
He wrote back on this one too!

My notes from Mr. Rogers are super special to me.  I am a huge fan of Mr. Rogers and he always wrote me back when I wrote him.  I keep his letters in a special place and  I framed one.
This note stays in my Bible.  It was written by my mentor teacher Mrs. Dickinson who passed away from cancer.  She had  a profound influence on my life as a teacher.  To her I will be forever grateful!  I love the last line of her note!
This note I also keep tucked in my Bible.  It's from Papa and Nana.  I love the first line, "You are sweeter than honey in a honey comb!"
This note was from Daniel.  He wrote this on the outside of the envelope and it has been a real encouragement to me!
Meg is great note writer and she leaves them for me all over the place. I found this one tucked in my Bible.

Yesterday, I subbed in a 2nd grade class and it was by far the hardest class I have had to work with.  I came away super discouraged.  The class was so difficult to manage.  Right before the teacher left for her meeting she told me to keep my bag behind her desk because one particular little girl would steal things. I found her going through by bag at one point.  I took her out into the hall and told her I would love to show her what was in my bag if she would ask me.  To go in my bag without permission was very rude.  I said could you please ask me to show you what's in my bag.  She nodded.  She was disruptive the entire time and I felt like the afternoon was a disaster but when I got home I found a note from her and another girl in the class.  They were probably the ones I called down the most and had to discipline the most.  But this note made me smile.

And then their are notes from my Savior.  Words that encourage!

I love notes!   I'm subbing tomorrow in Kindergarten and I'm going to take a moment to find that girl who looked in my bag and I'm going to give her a note!  A note that will hopefully make her smile!

One of Meg's outfits this past week.
I was back in the classroom this past week!  I got to be with the class I taught for a month. It was good to see them again.

Owen started soccer last week.  He had his first game Sat.
I found this chair at the good will for $4.00, I let Meg pick out some fabric for another $4.00.  I re-covered it and I think it makes a great little chair in Meg's room!

                                 Owen's team before the game
yay for Skype!  We talked to Pascal's brother and family on Sat.  They are spending a year in Singapore.  It was great seeing them again!
Meg had a riding lesson on Sunday afternoon.  She really likes spending time with Dolly.

Check out these boots!  The lady that rides before Meg heard us talking and I was telling them Meg has never had a "real" pair of cowboy boots. Well, on Sunday she brought these boots for Meg.  She said they were too small for her daughter and she wanted Meg to have them!  Meg was thrilled!  She said they were her "style!"  I had only met this lady once and I thought that was so sweet of her to think of Meg.  Such kindness!
Owen is a such an outdoor boy!  Sticks, rocks, and the great outdoors are what this boy loves best!  He asked us to take him to Home Depot so he could buy with his own money a rope.  That's right .....a rope.  Well, that $5.00 provided the neighborhood kids hours of fun.  They had lots of tug a war battles.
They always set up some sort of base camp.

I'm back up at the school 2 days this week.  I think 2 days a week is the magic number of working days for me right now.  On Friday I was called in to be the PE teacher.  I really enjoyed this.  I took all the classes outside to play and she left me her megaphone to use!  Using that megaphone was a blast!  I was a little tempted to bring that home with me!
