Weekly-Round Up!
This week we decided to give hockey another try. The first week was tough. Being the "new kid" is never easy. Owen didn't want to go but I said, "you never give up after trying once." I made a deal that after he tried it a second time and didn't like it he didn't have to go again. Well, this week he LOVED it!! Hooray!
Owen is so big compared to these little guys. There are 2 other players his age.
On Wednesday - we were doing our thing in school and just kinda hit a wall. There was someone feeling frustrated, tired, overwhelmed..... (no names will be mentioned). SOOOOO we just closed our books, stopped our lessons midway through and headed to the nature center.
We looked at this Barn Owl who was super curious about us. He would do the most amazing things with his neck!! It was as if he was happy to have company on a chilly Feb. day.
We walked
We laughed
We chatted
We walked some more
We enjoyed the fresh air
We played
and we talked about when you feel frustrated - just take a breather.
Meg is the Play-doh queen! I love that this is her thing. She finds such enjoyment in creating and making "food". Pap thank you for buying her the "big" bucket of Play-doh goodies. She has loved them!!
We talked about "shading" this week to create the idea of a shadow. We made snowmen. This is Meg's.
Owen's
And we made birds
Meg has been graphing the daily temperature for math. This really shows you the range we have had here in Kansas weather.
A few more fort pics. They just spend so much time working on this thing. It truly is part of daily life.
This week they worked extra hard on this bridge. You have to look closely but they have little strings attached on the sides.
They have two forts now. Owen has been telling me that they have been working on a bunker. I didn't think much of it and until I went in and saw this huge hole!!
Yes, that is a saw. and No it is not ours. One of the boys brought it out. I felt a little nervous about this until Owen said, "Oh, moms its been out here for weeks!"
This is Owen completely standing in the hole. I am amazed at what these kids accomplish. I really hope I am here the day the ground keepers come and find out what is beneath these tepees.
and so bunker building continues
fort #2
Fort #1
and that's a wrap.
