Heidelberg, Germany

We've been a little out of the loop since we moved from Arizona.  Here is a little re-cap.

 

We spent our time having fun with our friends as our final days in Arizona came to an end.  I gave the kids a box of foil and they played for hours making a river.

 

 

 

                          They had time for one last art sale.  The kids would set these up all the time.

                         A trip to the pool across the street.  It opened two days before we left.

                                                                  And the packing began!!

                                      And more packing!!  Two days of packing.  One day of loading the truck!

 Here we are at the Dairy Queen saying good bye to our very dear friends Sylvia and Reynold.  They were our neighbors the first time we lived in Arizona.  They are such sweet friends!  (Owen was exhausted and fell asleep)

 We had some tears saying good bye to our best friend Kaylee.

                          and our best friend Matty.  The kids spent countless hours playing together!

We cleaned out Meg's closet and gave Matty some jewelry, clothes, purses and princess items she didn't use anymore.  Here is Matty wearing some of her hand- me -downs!

 

Then it was time to do what we do best!  Hit the Road! 

Goodbye Arizona!

We were on the road for 4 days.  First stop Albuquerque, New Mexico.  Meg got some turquoise earrings here.

 

We stopped next in Amarillo, Texas and then made our way to Oklahoma.  We stopped there to see where the bombing took place in 1995.

 

They have a beautiful memorial there now and an amazing museum.  It was difficult to walk through the museum but the kids learned so much about that sad day. 

 

After visiting OK we headed North to our final destination:  KANSAS!

 

After resting for a day or so on June 7th we headed off to the Dwight D. Eisenhower Library which is just  45 min. away.  They were having some special celebrations to remember D-Day. 

 Meg and I fell in love with the house he was raised in.  We loved this house!!  Meg and I talked about the things we would do if we lived there.  It was just as cute on the inside as it was on the outside!

              Owen was in all his glory!! They had WWII  era equipment and weapons on display. This kid was ecstatic! 

Owen knew the names for all the guns and trucks.

Even Meg got in on the action.  They had a lady dressed as Rosy the Riveter and I hate that I didn't get a picture of her and Meg.  "We Can Do It!"  Is one of Meg and my favorite quotes!

They got to take a ride in this jeep!!  How neat is that?

Then it was off to visit the library.

Meg and I became quite fascinated with his wife Mamie.  We loved this quote by her and I totally think it describes Meg.  "As an American woman I have always valued my right to pretty clothes."

Then we shopped in a few antique stores.  Kansas is beautiful and we are loving the green grass and trees! 

 

On June 9th we went to sign for housing on post but found out it will not be ready until July 9th soooooo we decided to take an impromptu trip to NC to see family.  These guys hadn't seen each other in a year and half!

 The boys shot BB guns for hours and the girls did crafts, played with Beamer and loved being together.

 I love how Chewy their dog got in on this one!

We were even able to squeeze in a quick trip to the beach. Thank you Aunt Nela and Uncle Jim!

Owen and Meg love the water and would stay on the beach for hours!

 

We spent 10 days with family and friends and then it was time to hit the road AGAIN!

We have 17 days left before we can move into our place.  Our theme for the next 2 and half weeks....."We can do this!"   I'm sure we will find something to do, Kansas has lots to offer and we can't wait to check it out!
