Reber Round-Up
We saw this sign on the side of the road and decided to give it a go. We drove down a dirt road and it led us to the coolest tomato patch.
It took us all of 5 min. to fill our bucket. And boy were they good!
We left this place and I just felt so happy. Picking tomato just made me feel good!
We had BLT's the rest of the week!
Last week we ventured out to a place my dad told me about. He said he heard about it through a customer and I couldn't wait to check it out. It is called Mepkin Abbey and it is home to a small group of Trappist Monks. Here is a picture of us entering the road to the Abbey. Can you believe this is one of only twelve Abbeys in the United States and it's just 45 min. down the road.
Here we are in the Chapel getting ready to hear the monks pray. They have prayer together 7 times a day. Their first prayer together is at the start of their day... 3AM.
They have a huge library but we were not allowed to visit.
The grounds are kept up by volunteers
After hurricane Hugo they had a lot of tree debris so an artist came and carved these images into the wood.
The Abbey sits on the Cooper River and long ago it was a rice plantation
This guy was watching us.
It was really a relaxing place to visit and and we found it very interesting. We had a PB&J picnic by the river.
We headed to Knoxville, TN over the weekend to meet up with Pascal. We found a French Creperie and Pascal was in heaven.
Pascal finish up school in the next 2 weeks and we are beyond thrilled to get him home. It's been a long summer without him.
We visited their local farmer's market on Saturday and enjoyed looking at all their home grown goods.
A very special visitor is coming this week! We are driving 3.5 hours to pick him up. Stay tuned to see who's coming to Charleston!!
